    El lenguaje metafórico es más que una simple manifestación de estilo ornamental, constituye la columna vertebral del lenguaje y del pensamiento. De las 127 metáforas conceptuales de tiempo presentes en el evangelio de Juan, un 95% son de naturaleza ontológica, lo que sugiere que el pensamiento del evangelista no avanza de manera lineal, ni sigue una estructura cronológica estricta, sino que cada segmento puede prolongarse y conduce al hecho central: la muerte de Jesús en la cruz. El procedimiento expositivo del texto tiene una estructura en espiral ya que responde a un esquema teológico-temporal “día-hora”, en que el día anticipa la hora, y la hora cumple el día y manifiesta su contenido. Esto influye en la estructura profunda del texto y hace que la narración no sea lineal. Antes bien, el escrito avanza como una espiral, que se mueve desde el exterior hacia el centro.

    Metaphorical language, which is essential for human reasoning, is far more than a simple manifestation of ornamental style, it constitutes the backbone of language and thought. Of the 127 conceptual metaphors of time present in the Gospel of John, 95% are ontological in nature, which suggests that the evangelist’s thought does not advance in a linear manner, nor does it follow a strict chronological structure, but rather each segment can be prolonged and leads to the central fact: the death of Jesus on the cross. The expository procedure of the text has a spiral structure since it responds to a theological-temporal “day-hour” scheme, in which the day anticipates the hour, and the hour fulfills the day and manifests its content. This influences the deep structure of the text and makes the narrative non-linear. Rather, the writing advances like a spiral, moving from the outside to the center.
