Resumen de Representaciones de Catulo y los Carmina en la novela histórica y el arte

La vida de Catulo oscila entre los rigores históricos y las suposiciones noveladas. Por ello, nos proponemos contrastar las fuentes históricas clásicas que tratan su vida y obra y dar luz a aquellos hechos ampliamente discutidos por la comunidad científica. Junto a ello, presentaremos los ejemplos de ficción histórica y las representaciones pictóricas en torno a la figura del poeta latino Catulo y las fuentes clásicas históricas más relevantes que hacen referencia a Catulo y Clodia junto a la propia obra del poeta. Además presentaremos una veintena de obras literarias y obras pictóricas delos últimos siglos que imaginan y recrean la vida de Catulo y su relación con Lesbia, ofreciendo un panorama general sobre las representaciones que propician estos personajes y el mundo grecolatino.

Catullus’s life oscillates between historical rigors and fictional assumptions. Therefore, we propose to contrast the classic historical sources that deal with his life and work and shed light on those facts widely discussed by the scientific community. Along with this, we will present examples of historical fiction and pictorial representations around the figure of the roman poet Catullus. Along with this, we will present examples of historical fiction and pictorial representations around the figure of the Latin poet Catullus and the most relevant classical historical sources that refer to Catullus and Clodia along with the poet’s own work. We will also present around twenty literary works and pictorial works from recent centuries that imagine and recreate the life of Catullus and his relationship with Lesbia, offering a general overview of the representations fostered by these characters and the Greco-Latin world.
