Resumen de Arquitectura de tierra y crecimiento urbano en Valencia: Algunas reflexiones sociales sobre su conservación

  La arquitectura de tierra constituye una expresión constructiva fundamental dentro del término municipalde Valencia. El crecimiento demográfico sufrido por la ciudad en los últimos 100 años ha tenidoconsecuencias relevantes en su desarrollo urbano y arquitectónico, especialmente en un territorio que,durante muchos siglos, había mantenido una vocación agrícola. Además, la evolución técnica y culturalha contribuido ulteriormente a cambios destacados en la estructura social y antropológica, con resultados significativos en el uso de la arquitectura. El presente trabajo aspira a evaluar cómo la conservación dela arquitectura de tierra se ve afectada en situaciones de superpoblación a través del caso de Valencia.Para presentar el contexto y sus características, en un primer momento se introducirá brevemente elcrecimiento urbano del último siglo y también las técnicas de tierra tradicionalmente empleadas en laciudad. Posteriormente, el trabajo se ocupará de destacar las situaciones de abandono y deterioros másrelevantes, analizando las causas de tipo social y antropológico. En las conclusiones, se describirá elestado actual de la arquitectura de tierra y se propondrán algunas indicaciones básicas para mejorar suconservación

  The earthen architecture constitutes a fundamental constructive expression within the municipality ofValencia. The demographic growth suffered by the city in the last 100 years had relevant consequences onits urban and architectural development, especially in a territory that, for many centuries, had maintainedan agricultural vocation. In addition, technical and cultural evolution has subsequently contributed tosignificant changes in the social and anthropological structure, with significant results in the use ofarchitecture. The present work aims to evaluate how the conservation of earth architecture is affected insituations of overpopulation through the case of Valencia. Firstly, to present the context and itscharacteristics, the urban growth of the last century and the land techniques traditionally used in the citywill be briefly introduced. Subsequently, the most relevant situations of abandonment and deteriorationwill be highlighted, analyzing the social and anthropological causes. In the conclusions, the current stateof earthen architecture will be described, and some basic indications will be proposed to improve itsconservation
