Patrimonio medieval en la provincia de Cádiz: Territorialización y potencialidad turística

    Los conjuntos históricos medievales representan un ejemplo del legado humano donde territorio y culturase combinan con un fuerte potencial para el turismo. Es por ello que en los últimos años han surgidopropuestas y estudios con fines comunes: la puesta en valor y dinamización turística del patrimoniobajomedieval. En este sentido, los estudios desarrollados van desde la creación de propuestas deitinerarios turísticos tematizados hasta el diseño de métodos específicos para el análisis de su potencialcomo “producto” para el turismo. En términos de patrimonialización, se propone un método que, si biense aleja del análisis más técnico en cuanto a las características intrínsecas de los bienes culturales, secentra, principalmente, en aquellos elementos que inflluyen en los procesos de territorialización delpatrimonio con base en la relación entre territorio, cultura y patrimonio. Para ello, se propone un modelode caracterización territorial del patrimonio, considerando aquellos elementos externos a los bienes queinfluyen directamente sobre su uso y aprovechamiento. La aplicación, realizada sobre el patrimoniobajomedieval en los municipios de la provincia de Cádiz, vislumbra las posibilidades del método empleadoy el desarrollo del patrimonio bajomedieval como elementos que, o bien presentan pocas iniciativasturísticas, o bien una promoción individualizada y alejada del contexto histórico en el que surgieron.

    Medieval sites represent an example of the human legacy where territory and culture are combined with astrong potential for tourism. That is why, in recent years, proposals and studies have emerged with commongoals: the valorization and revitalization of late medieval heritage tourism. In this sense, the availablestudies range from the creation of proposals for themed tourist itineraries to the design of specific methodsfor the analysis of medieval heritage potential as a "product" for tourism. In terms of patrimonialization,this document proposes a method that focuses mainly on the elements that influence the processes ofterritorialization of heritage based on the relationship between territory, culture and heritage. However,this method is far from a technical analysis of the characteristics of cultural assets. To this end, consideringthe elements that are external to the sites and which directly influence their use and exploitation, thisdocument proposes a model for heritage territorial characterization. Its implementation, carried out on thelate medieval heritage sites in the municipalities of the province of Cadiz, shows the possibilities of theproposed method and the state of development of late medieval heritage sites. Results suggested few touristinitiatives or an individualized promotion of the sites far from the historical context in which they arose
