Los Sistemas Importantes del Patrimonio Agrícola Mundial (SIPAM) son agroecosistemas habitados porcomunidades que viven en una relación intrínseca con su territorio. Estos sitios, en constante evolución yadaptación, son sistemas resilientes que se caracterizan por poseer una biodiversidad agrícola notable eimportante, unos conocimientos tradicionales, unas culturas y paisajes de gran valor, gestionados demanera sostenible por agricultores, pastores, pescadores y poblaciones forestales, respondiendo yaportando soluciones a los medios de vida y la seguridad alimentaria.Esta iniciativa de la FAO, nacida en la Cumbre Mundial de Desarrollo Sostenible de Johannesburgo enel año 2002, aglutina en la actualidad en nuestro país un total de cinco territorios avalados con estereconocimiento, entre los que se encuentran el Sistema Agrosilvopastoril de las Montañas de León,declarado recientemente en el año 2022 y la actual candidatura del Valle de Ricote con sus regadíostradicionales.
Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) are agroecosystems inhabited bycommunities that live in an intrinsic relationship with their territory. These sites, in constant evolutionand adaptation, are resilient systems characterized by remarkable agrobiodiversity, traditionalknowledge, invaluable cultures and landscapes, managed sustainably by herders, fisherfolk, and forestpeople, in ways that contribute to their livelihoods and food security.This FAO initiative, originating from the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in2002, currently brings together a total of five territories endowed with this recognition in Spain; amongthem are the Agrosilvopastoral System of the Mountains of León, since 2022, and additionally the currentcandidacy of the Ricote Valley with its traditional irrigation system.
