Durante a Guerra Civil, en Gondomar non chegou a haber un enfrontamento armado entre sublevados e partidarios da República. Non obstante, o pobo tamén foi partícipe da axitación que experimentaba o país. Así, aínda que os momentos de maior alteración se viviron entre o día 20 e o día 24 de xullo de 1936, a represión franquista, que cedo foi imposta en toda España, manifestouse tamén de forma notable en Gondomar.
A represión levada a cabo polo franquismo foi tanto extranormativa como normativa, e non foron poucos os que na vila sufriron as consecuencias da mesma; os mestres represaliados, os “paseados”, os “fuxidos”, e os encausados, foron protagonsitas daquela época de incertidume.
During the Civil War, in Gondomar there was no armed confrontation between insurgents and supporters of the Republic. However, the people were also involved in the unrest the country was experiencing.
Thus, although the moments of greatest alteration were lived between the 20th and the 24th of July 1936, the Francoist repression that was soon imposed throughout Spain also manifested itself remarkably in Gondomar.
The repression carried out by the Franco regime was both extranormative and normative, and there were not a few in the town who suffered the consequences of it; the retaliated masters, the “walkers”, the “fugitives”, and the indicteds, were the protagonists of that time of uncertainty
