O artigo identifica tres explotacións mineiras galaico-romanas de ouro no dique de Urgal, dentro da banda metasedimentaria de Monteferro-O Rosal, fai unha breve sinopse da orixe xeolóxica do ouro e da relación destes xacementos con outros da Gallaecia e interpreta as explotacións en referencia ás condicións xeolóxicas coñecidas. Para rematar, e no que atinxe ao coñecemento real que temos da minaría antiga, critica suposicións comúns nas interpretacións xeo-arqueolóxicas da minaría romana e sinala os obxectivos a investigar para avanzar neste coñecemento.

The article identifies three Galician-Roman gold mining operations in the Urgal dike, within the Monteferro-O Rosal metasedimentary complex, makes a brief synopsis of the geological origin of gold and the relationship of these deposits with others in Gallaecia, and interprets the exploitations in reference to known geological conditions. Finally, and with regard to the real knowledge we have of ancient mining, it criticizes common assumptions in the geo-archaeological interpretations of Roman mining and points out the objectives to be investigated to advance this knowledge
