Sistema ACOVEO: una propuesta funcional para el analisis de la interaccion verbal en terapia

    La investigación de procesos en psicología atiende a los fenómenos que se dan en terapia y que explican la eficacia de un determinado tratamiento psicológico. Entre estos fenómenos, el comportamiento del terapeuta, eminentemente verbal, es el que más relevancia ha adquirido para explicar el cambio clínico, al ser el responsable de moldear la conducta problemática en sesión (Kohlenberg & Tsai, 1991). Desde diferentes perspectivas teóricas se ha tratado de analizar la interacción clínica entre cliente y terapeuta, utilizando una metodología observacional para categorizar la conducta verbal que se produce en sesión (Hill, 1978; Stiles, 1987; Callaghan, 1998). Sin embargo, estos sistemas presentan la limitación de realizar una clasificación descriptiva de la conducta (Rodríguez-Morejón et al., 2018). Partiendo del perfeccionamiento de sistemas previos (Froján-Parga & Ruiz-Sancho, 2013), el objetivo de este estudio es presentar un nuevo Sistema de categorías (Sistema ACOVEO) que presenta enormes ventajas con respecto a los anteriores y permite soslayar las limitaciones habituales de los sistemas existentes. Su elaboración se llevó a cabo en varias fases que incluían discusiones con profesionales de psicología y la posterior recategorización de sesiones clínicas que permitió realizar análisis de concordancia interjueces mediante el coeficiente Kappa de Cohen alcanzando un criterio mínimo de 0.70. El nuevo sistema destaca por su funcionalidad y facilidad de uso suponiendo un paso más en la construcción de una herramienta válida y fiable con la que atender a los procesos que posibilitan los cambios en la terapia

    Process research in psychology deals with phenomena that occur during therapy, that account for the efficacy of a psychological treatment. Among these phenomena, the -- eminently verbal-- behaviour of the therapist is the most critical factor to explaining clinical change because it is the therapist who is responsible for shaping problematic behaviour in the sessions (Kohlenberg & Tsai, 1991). The clinical interaction between client and therapist has been analysed from different theoretical perspectives, using observational methods to categorise the verbal behaviour occurring in the session. (Hill, 1978; Stiles, 1987;

    Callaghan, 1998). However, these systems have the limitation of only providing a descriptive classification of behaviour. (Rodríguez-Morejón et al., 2018). Improving on earlier systems (Froján-Parga & RuizSancho, 2013), the aim of this study is to introduce a new Category System (ACOVEO System) that has tremendous advantages over earlier ones and which circumvents the limitations typical of other categorical systems. Its development was carried out in several phases that included discussions with psychologists, and the subsequent recategorization of clinical sessions. This allowed for inter-rater concordance analysis using Cohen's Kappa coefficient, to reach a minimum criterion of 0.70. The new system is noteworthy for its functionality and ease of use, representing a further step in the construction of a valid and reliable tool with which to approach the processes that make changes in therapy possible.
