  Thinking about language policies implies thinking about state power and languages, but above all it implies thinking about the speakers of these languages. With this in mind, we aimed to investigate the offer of the Spanish language in municipal schools on the Brazil/Argentina border, in the 16 municipalities along the borderline from Garruchos to Barra do Guarita, Rio Grande do Sul. In order to understand how border linguistic manifestations occur, we rely on the studies of Sturza (2009; 2017) and authors such as Torquato (2010), who help in the understanding of the concepts of language policies and communities. Therefore, we used the field study as methodology, from which we developed a questionnaire and sent it to the education departments of the municipalities of interest. From the results, we obtained an indication of the offer of the Spanish language in the municipal schools of these cities, which allows us to verify to what extent the Constitutional Amendment 74/2018, which determines the mandatory offer of Spanish, is respected. Therefore, this is an investigation that reaffirms the importance of the linguistic planning of the State with the linguistic community, in order to value languages, peoples, cultures, identities, and this place of so much diversity that is the border

  Pensar em políticas linguísticas implica pensar no poder do Estado e nas línguas, mas acima de tudo implica pensar nos falantes dessas línguas. Com vistas a isso, objetivamos investigar a oferta da língua espanhola em escolas municipais na fronteira Brasil/Argentina, nos 16 municípios que atendem a linha de fronteira da cidade de Garruchos até Barra do Guarita, Rio Grande do Sul. A fim de compreender como ocorrem as manifestações linguísticas fronteiriças buscamos os estudos de Sturza (2009; 2017) além de autores como Torquato (2010) que auxilia na compreensão dos conceitos de políticas e comunidades linguísticas. Para tanto, utilizamos o estudo de campo como metodologia, a partir do qual elaboramos um questionário e enviamos às secretarias de educação dos municípios de interesse. A partir dos resultados obtivemos um indicativo sobre a oferta da língua espanhola nas escolas municipais dessas cidades, o que permite verificar em que medida é respeitada a Emenda Constitucional 74/2018, que determina a oferta obrigatória do espanhol. Portanto, essa é uma investigação que reafirma a importância do planejamento linguístico conjunto do Estado com a comunidade linguística, a fim de valorizar as línguas, os povos, as culturas, as identidades e esse lugar de tanta diversidade que é a fronteira.
