Seemingly, music bands’ and opera house orchestras’ archives do not have very much in common except for one fundamental point: they are performance archives.
The increasing interest in performance archives leads to a closer observation of their contents, of their nature, and of the way they are perceived in an ever‑changing context.
This paper aims to investigate the many aspects shared by bands’ and opera orchestras’ archives, to observe the development of legislation concerning the preservation of cultural goods, and to raise some thoughts about information available on the Internet.
