This article reviews the arguments of Theodor Adorno and Gilles Deleuze re-garding naturalistic aesthetics. In contrast to aesthetic realism, the central argu-ment of this essay is to demonstrate the genealogical character that naturalistic aesthetics has in understanding the heterotopic and dystopian conditions of possibility of 20th and 21st century art, in particular of the artistic practices that are defined by their deforming potentia of the representation.
