    El artículo presenta una aproximación al concepto de melancolía en las obras tempranas de Søren Kierkegaard. La hipótesis que se presenta consiste en que la melancolía es un fenómeno central en el proyecto de pensamiento de Kierke-gaard ya que está presente, en sus múltiples desarrollos, en todas las etapas o mo-mentos existenciales expuestos en la obra del pensador danés. En ese sentido, se presenta una lectura general del problema abarcando varias obras, para mostrar de qué modo hay cierta omnipresencia de la melancolía. Sin embargo, tomare-mos a O lo uno o lo otro como la obra central para el abordaje del fenómeno. En primer lugar, se indaga por los múltiples significados de la melancolía en Kier-kegaard, es decir, por el tipo o los diversos tipos de melancolía presentes en su obra. En segundo lugar, se indaga acerca del carácter ambiguo del fenómeno y, en último lugar, se presenta una lectura del concepto de melancolía en términos ontológicos, es decir, como algo constitutivo y constituyente de la existencia.

    The article presents an approach to the concept of melancholy in Søren Ki-erkegaard’s early works. The hypothesis that is presented is that melancholy is a central phenomenon in Kierkegaard’s thought project since it is present, in its multiple developments, in all the stages or existential moments exposed in the work of the Danish thinker. In this sense, a general reading of the problem is presented, covering several works, to show how there is a certain omnipresence of melancholy. However, we will take Either/Or as the central work for the approach of the phenomenon. Firstly, he explores the multiple meanings of melancholy in Kierkegaard, that is, the type or the various types of melancholy present in his work. Secondly, it investigates the ambiguous character of the phenomenon and, finally, it presents a reading of the concept in ontological terms, that is to say, as something constitutive and constituent of existence.
