There are two criteria which define a piece of music as Masonic, namely the adaptation of the profane repertory to the needs and customs of the lodges (especially the ad notam device) and the presence of typical ritual elements (mainly the words and batteries). Thanks to the latter means, Mozart introduced a Masonic content into works specifically destined for the profane. However, concerts organised by «musical » lodges contained only few works which could be classified as Masonic.
