Until 1986 the only list of the Olympic Society was the one dating from 1786 in the Bibliothèque historique de la ville de Paris. Thanks to Ms Morillon, of the Manuscript Department of the Bibliothèque nationale, a second copy of this list has been found in the B.N.'s Department of Printed Books. In addition the classification of the Baylot collection brought to light an unknown copy of the 1788 list. A comparison of the two lists indicated 194 hitherto unknown Masons. The most important are the Marquess of Bouillé, the Marquess of Dreux-Brézé, the Prince de Conti, the Baron Ménou, Rochambeau's father and son and the abbé de Véri, confidant of Maurepas, Louis XVI's minister.
