    El presente trabajo busca recentrar y localizar la visita realizada por el corregidor de Potosí y teniente de virrey don Pedro Osores de Ulloa en 1596 en la frontera de Tomina acercándose a ese evento desde la cultura política del Antiguo Régimen. Con la ayuda de cartas, probanzas de méritos y servicios, y documentos notariales, se explora aquí esa inspección como la puesta en escena y renegociación de múltiples jurisdicciones con el objetivo de preservar el statu quo de la frontera. La visita no estuvo planeada para alterar la dinámica política de ese espacio sino para confirmar y fortalecer las jurisdicciones de los agentes reales allí presentes. El itinerario de la visita representa de ese modo un mapa de esas jurisdicciones y de las jerarquías políticas que las sostienen.

    The present article attempts to re-centre and localise the inspection conducted by Potosí Corregidor and viceroy lieutenant don Pedro Osores de Ulloa in 1596 in the Tomina frontier, approaching the event through the political culture of the time. With the help of letters, reports of merits and services, and notarial records, the inspection is understood as the staging and renegotiation of multiple jurisdictions with the aim of preserving the frontier’s status quo. The inspection was not planned to alter the zone’s political dynamics but to confirm and strengthen the existing jurisdictions of the agents present in the area. The visita’s journey maps these jurisdictions and the political hierarchies that underpinned them.
