    • Enjoy your coffee.

Leave a small volume of coffee (∼2 cm3) in the cup.

      Swirl the coffee around.

Tilt the cup ∼30° and hold. As the coffee runs down, some of its particles stick to the bottom.

Turn the cup a little, tilt, and hold; repeat until you like the formation of particles, or the painting! This is fascinating. Random flows turn into intriguing paintings! The images shown here were cropped to the bottom of a porcelain cup. No other alterations were made to the images.

The best coffee for this purpose can be found in hotel rooms. It is individually packaged in a filter bag, and fine particles pass through the filter when making coffee.
