Yo también soy el parque: Experiencia educativa para la gestión local del Área Protegida

    Los chequeos del Programa de Vigilancia y Protección en el Parque Nacional Viñales permiten el análisis de las incidencias que semanalmente reportan los guarda parques de las distintas zonas y al mismo tiempo se planifican las acciones que deben dar solución a las diversas situaciones. Sin embargo existen problemas cuya solución no es definitiva a corto plazo, ni dependen de grandes inversiones. Tal es el caso de Valle Ancón, donde se han reportado acciones negativas contra el sistema de señalización y la infraestructura creada para la vigilancia de incendios forestales en el mirador natural, «Loma del mango». ¿Quién es el responsable? No podemos responder con certeza, pero sí­ trabajar para que estos hechos desaparezcan y otros no ocurran nunca. Existe en la localidad un IPUEC (Valle Ancón) principal institución educativa a la que dirigimos nuestros esfuerzos, considerando las numerosas potencialidades que tenemos para explorar en los estudiantes como grupo meta. El Programa «Yo también soy el Parque» diseñado en Viñales dentro de la estrategia para el trabajo comunitario local y a su vez como parte del Programa de Información, Educación e Interpretación ambiental del Plan de Manejo, nos facilitó el desarrollo de una primera experiencia en la que se vincularon acciones informativas y participativas en las que se logró el protagonismo de los estudiantes.

    The Program of surveillance and protection in Viñales National Park allow us to detect and analyze different events that Park rangers notice in the different Pak zones. Thus, actions are carried out to give solutions to the different problems found. However, there exist certain problems which solutions are not given in a short term and also they don't depend on big investments. Such is the case of Ancón Valley, where negative events have been reported mostly, against the signs and infrastructure designed to support the surveillance of forest fires in Loma del Mango look-out point. Who is responsible for this? We can't answer with certainty, but we are sure that our main task is to work hard to diminish these problems and prevent others. In the area, there is a pre-university school (Valle Ancón) where our educative work could have an influence on the students, based on our potentialities exploring this type of groups. With the support of the Program ¨I am also the Park¨, designed in Viñales within the strategy on local community work and as part of the Program of information and environmental Revista científica ECOVIDA, 2008; 1(1): 81-90 education in Viñales National Park, we had the opportunity to develop some activities aiming at giving some general information and getting the students involved in the protection of the area.
