Migración otoñal de Dumetella carolinensis en la península de Guanahacabibes

    Dumetella carolinensis atraviesa el Golfo de México durante el otoño y se conoce de estancias en la Península de Guanahacabibes en este período. Con este trabajo nos proponemos establecer una línea base que permita detectar y comprender cambios posteriores en la migración para el propio seguimiento del estatus específico y bases para el manejo territorial. Se efectuaron capturas con redes ornitológicas durante los meses de septiembre, octubre y noviembre en los años 2015 y 2016. La especie aparece en el área entre el mes de octubre y en la primera decena de noviembre. Los mayores porcentajes de capturas se registraron entre las 07:00 hr y las 11:00 hr. Del total de individuos procesados (N = 252), el 87,7 % fueron juveniles y el 66,3 % presentó el cráneo totalmente osificado. El peso promedio de la especie en el área fue de 35,6 ± 3,4 g. Las mayores tasas de capturas se registraron en área transicional y bosque semideciduo. La mediana para la edad fue 2, para el cráneo 5, para grasa 2 y para músculo 2. El número de capturas fue mayor cuando se registró calma o cuando los viento provenían del E, ENE y NE.

    Dumetella carolinensis crosses the Gulf of Mexico during the autumn and we know that stays in Península de Guanahacabibes in this period. With this work we intend to settle down a base line that allows detecting and understanding changes in the migration for tracking down the specific status and serve as bases for the territorial handling. Captures were made with ornithological nets during the months of September, October and November in 2015 and 2016. The species appears in the area around October and the first ten days of November. The biggest percentages of captures were registered between the 07:00 hr and 11:00 hr. From the total of processed individuals (N = 252), 87,7% were juvenile and the 66,3% presented a completely ossified skull. The weight average of the species in the area was of 35,6 ± 3,4 g. The biggest captures rates were registered in transitional areas and semideciduos forest. The medium values for age was 2, for skull 5, for fat 2 and muscle 2. The number of captures increased when registered calm or when the wind came from the E, ENE and NE.
