Los primeros Colegios de Ministrantes y Practicantes nacieron en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX en ciudades como Madrid, Sevilla y Barcelona. Con este estudio pretendemos dar a conocer los aspectos relativos al origen y desarrollo de estas sociedades pioneras que surgieron en un contexto sanitario poco alentador para sus intereses profesionales. En este sentido, los males que acuciaban a la clase justificaron su aparición. Por un lado, el complejo entramado de profesiones sanitarias existentes les acarreó más de un conflicto, sin olvidar que tal entramado era caldo de cultivo propicio para el intrusismo que también padecieron y; por otro lado y no menos importante, fue el olvido sufrido por las autoridades, que sin duda favoreció el desarrollo profesional de otras clases sanitarias emergentes.

The first Association of Ministrantes and Practicantes was born in the second half of the nineteenth century in cities such as Madrid, Sevilla and Barcelona. The aim of this study is to bring light to the circumstances regarding the creation and development of these early societies which emerged in a bleak health context for their professional interests. In this sense, the problems of ministrantes and practicantes justified the appearance of this association. The complex network of the existing health professions in that time caused frequents conflicts, and was also a suitable breeding ground for the unauthorized practice of the profession. Least but not less important was the obscurity that the authorities condemned them to, which with no doubt encouraged the professional development of other emerging health classes.
