  Para actualizar el conocimiento sobre la riqueza de especies de macrófitas marinas en la península de Guanahacabibes se realizó un inventario en 24 estaciones ubicadas al norte de la misma, y se incluyó información del sur a partir de estudios anteriores. Se confeccionó una lista de especies y se inventariaron cinco Magnoliophyta, 95 Chlorophyta, 88 Rhodophyta y 35 Ochrophyta con nueve nuevos registros para la zona. La zona sur tuvo más taxones que el norte probablemente debido al predominio de fondos rocosos que favorece el asentamiento de macroalgas.

  To update the knowledge on the state of marine macrophytes around Guanahacabibes peninsula, 22 stations to the north of the peninsula were sampled and data on the south from previous studies were used. A checklist of macrophytes species was performed. The inventory of species gave five Magnoliophyta, 95 Chlorophyta, 88 Rhodophyta and 35 Ochrophyta, with nine new records for the area. The south presented more taxa than the north probably due to rocky bottoms predominance that inducing the settlement of macroalgae.
