      Estúdase a traxectoria poética global de Darío Xohán Cabana. Nos seus inicios, aínda moi novo e nos que destaca a súa poesía política e o seu canto á Terra Chá, mostras do claro influxo de Manuel María, ó que logo sucedería Méndez Ferrín, os dous membros da que o propio poeta denomina «A Grande Xeración». Á beira deles o maxisterio tamén de Xosé María Álvarez Blázquez. Posteriormente Darío Xohán Cabana destaca como gran sonetista e poeta de intensa intertextualidade que canta o amor gozoso. A súa dimensión de poeta está vinculada agora ó seu labor de tradutor dos clásicos medievais italianos e occitanos, exercicio que orixinou un galego literario de referencia. Finalmente abórdase a súa derradeira e máis orixinal obra, claramente pesimista sobre o futuro da lingua e da nación, que remata cun canto materialista á natureza e mais á vida.

      An overall study of Darío Xohán Cabana’s poetic career is provided. Early on, as a young man, he wrote mainly political poetry and songs devoted to Terra Chá, a vast green plateau around the city of Lugo, which is proof of the clear influence Manuel María exerted over him. The latter will be followed by Méndez Ferrín as his main influence. He includes these two poets in what he calls «The Great Generation.» In addition, Xosé María Álvarez Blázquez will be an important poetic figure for him too. Subsequently, Darío Xohán Cabana becomes well-known as an accomplished writer of sonnets and as a poet of intense intertextuality who deals with the pleasures of love. His poetry is then linked to his work as a translator of classical Italian and Occitan texts. This practice led him to develop a literary style in Galician that became a milestone on account of its quality. The article concludes with a study of the poet’s last and most original work, which clearly shows his pessimism regarding the future of the Galician language and nation, which ends with a materialistic song to nature and life.
