  El Atlántico sur, durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, se convirtió en un espacio de conflicto al confluir intereses de las grandes potencias europeas. Como respuesta, la Corona española, a través de la Armada, realizó numerosas expediciones, como la de Antonio de Córdoba, que proporcionaron información de primer orden sobre rutas, recursos y pobladores. Estas descripciones sobre los “otros” permitieron avanzar en la diferenciación etnográfica y replantear interpretaciones antropológicas.

  During the second half of the 18th century, the South Atlantic became a space of conflict as the interests of the great European powers converged. In response, the Spanish Crown, through the Armada, carried out numerous expeditions, such as that of Antoniode Córdoba, which provided first-rate information on routes, resources,and settlers. These descriptions of the "others" made it possible to advance ethnographic differentiation and rethink anthropological interpretations.
