Governar i forjar el record. El Consell de València i Jaume I (ss. XIV-XV)

    This paper studies the way in which the municipal council of the city intervened in the process of remembrance of James I. It focuses specifically on a set of objects and ar-tistic and performative manifestations which, in the urban sphere, formed part of everyday life and which, therefore, had a decisive influence on society’s idea of James I. It starts from the assumption that the figure of the monarch was not only a verifiable historical memory, but also a fabrication; that is, an image formulated by institutions and projected in different media and contexts. As a fabrication, it could contain, latently or not, practical purposes deriving from the will of the council.

    El present escrit indaga en la manera en què el Consell municipal de la ciutat in-tervingué en el procés de rememoració de Jaume I. Se centra, concretament, en un conjunt d’objectes i de manifestacions artístiques i performatives que, en l’àmbit urbà, formaven part de la quotidianitat i que, per tant, tenien un marge d’acció decisiu en la idea que la societat tenia de Jaume I. Parteix del fet que la figura del monarca no només era un record històric verificable, sinó també una fabricació; és a dir, una imatge formulada per les institucions i projectada en diferents mitjans i contextos. Com a fabricació, podia contenir, en estat més o menys latent, objectius pràctics que emanaven de la voluntat del Consell.
