El autor muestra las limitaciones de microanálisis tradicional y dos enfoques mega analíticos, el formativo y el de civilización, en el estudio del constitucionalismo latinoamericano. A cambio, propone el enfoque estadial, cuya fuerza es la capacidad de interpretar el pasado y el presente del constitucionalismo, no sólo en América Latina sino en ambos lados del Océano Atlántico; asimismo, avisora cambios en el desarrollo del constitucionalismo en un futuro lejano.

The author shows the limitations of traditionalmicroanalysis and two megaanalyticalapproaches –the formationaland civilizational– in the study of LatinAmerican constitutionalism. In exchange,he proposes estadial approach,whose strength is the ability to interpretthe past and present of constitutionalism,not only in Latin America, but on bothsides of the Atlantic Ocean, and also envisagechanges in the development of constitutionalismin the distant future.
