En la década de 1970 en Morelia se dio la fundación de escuelas populares, con las que se buscó dar cabida a los estudiantes que no podían estudiar, ya fuera porque no había lugar en las escuelas o porque no tenían los recursos para entrar aunque hubiese lugares, el acontecimiento se repitió al inicio de cada ciclo escolar. En ese contexto fue que se fundó en septiembre de 1977, a manos de los estudiantes nicolaitas radicalizados, la Preparatoria Popular Lenin, que ofreció estudios a quienes el sistema capitalista dejó fuera de los servicios educativos, además, la prepa tuvo la misión de formar cuadros políticos para llevar a la sociedad al socialismo. La preparatoria, que desde su fundación tuvo oposición por parte de algunos sectores universitarios, estuvo laborando por un periodo aproximado de dos años, ya que no lograron el reconocimiento de sus estudios por parte de la Universidad Michoacana, pues se abrieron más preparatorias de la Universidad que absorbieron a los estudiantes y algunos profesores de la Preparatoria Lenin, por lo que finalmente se extinguió en 1979.

In the 1970s in Morelia, popular schools were founded, with which they sought to accommodate students who could not study either because there was no room in the schools or because they did not have the resources to enter even if there were places, the event was repeated at the beginning of each school year. It was in this context that the Lenin Popular High School was founded in September 1977, at the hands of radicalized Nicolaitan students, which offered studies to those whom the capitalist system left out of educational services, in addition, the high school had the mission of training political cadres to lead society to socialism. The high school, which since its foundation was opposed by some University sectors, was working for a period of approximately two years, since they did not achieve recognition of their studies by the Universidad Michoacana, since more high schools of the University were opened that absorbed the students and some teachers of the Lenin High School, for which it finally became extinct in 1979.
