This paper addresses some of the responses that some part of the Mexican society developed against the implementation of religious tolerance, in the context of the liberal reform, focused on the field of education. The study is made from a perspective that tries to articulate conceptual history with the history of emotions, emphasizing practices—beyond the textual—which involve the body and the senses of the actors and which affect the material reality and the conceptual change. The documentation is diverse and, although the text is in an initial state of exploration, it contributes to thinking about some axes that allow us to reflect on emotions in the history of education.
