Resumen de Chile en los archivos de la URSS (1959-1973): Comité Central del PCUS y del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de la URSS

  El material documental que se presenta en estas páginas consiste, por un lado, en documentos del Comité Central del PCUS (Partido Comunista de la URSS) que acreditan los aportes en divisas destinados al Partido Comunista chileno por intermedio del Fondo Internacional Sindical para la Ayuda de las Organizaciones Obreras de Izquierda (entidad creada en 1948 para canalizar ayuda del campo socialista a los partidos hermanos y movimientos afines en países no comunistas). Por otro lado, se dan a conocer aquí transcripciones de algunas de las conversaciones que sostuvieron los embajadores de la URSS (N.B. Alexseev y A.V. Basov) con dirigentes de la izquierda chilena durante el gobierno de la Unidad Popular, e ilustrativos informes de la embajada soviética en Santiago y de analistas de ese país sobre la situación política y económica en Chile, que aportan valioso material para el análisis de las conexiones entre la izquierda chilena y su socio estratégico (la URSS), y sobre las expectativas de unos respecto de los otros. También dan cuenta de quiénes eran los interlocutores en estas relaciones. Los antecedentes que se presentan aquí, aunque no sean más que fragmentos de lo que quisiéramos disponer, permiten sin embargo vislumbrar la naturaleza y dimensiones de las relaciones en-tre la izquierda chilena, y en particular del Partido Comunista de Chile, con su ‘hermano mayor’ durante una parte importante de la reciente historia de nuestro país.

  The documentary material presented in these pages consists, on the one hand, of documents of the Central Committee of the CPSU (Communist Party of the USSR) that accredit the contributions in foreign currency destined to the Chilean Communist Party through the International Trade Union Fund for the Aid of the Left Workers’ Organizations (an entity created in 1948 to channel aid from the socialist camp to sister parties and related movements in non-communist countries). On the other hand, transcripts of some of the conversations held by the USSR ambassadors (N.B. Alexseev and A.V. Basov) with Chilean left-wing leaders during the Unidad Popular government and illustrative reports from the Soviet embassy in Santiago and analysts of that country on the political and economic situation in Chile, which provide valuable material for the analysis of the connections between the Chilean left and its strategic partner (the USSR), and on the expectations of one concerning the other, are presented here. They also give an account of who were the interlocutors in these relations. The background information presented here, although they are only fragments of what we would like to have, nevertheless allow us to glimpse the nature and dimensions of the relations between the Chilean left, and in particular of the Chilean Communist Party, with its ‘big brother’ during an essential part of the recent history of our country.
