    Se presenta un análisis sobre la Importancia y vigencia del secreto profesional médico, basado en el derecho y la necesidad de la persona humana a la salvaguardia de su Intimidad. Este derecho no se pierde porque en la práctica actual de la medicina otros profesionales o empleados, además del médico tratante, conozcan la historia clínica del paciente o algunos datos consignados en ella: el secreto obliga también con todo rigor a estas personas. Igualmente obliga el secreto cuando se emplean computadores. Se presentan las excepciones a esta regla ética y, también, lo pertinente a la Información al paciente, a sus familiares y a la comunidad.

    The author presents an analysis on the importance and present-day effect of medical secrecy, based in the right and need of the human being to preserve his Intimacy. Such a right is not lost in spite of the fact that actual medical practices allow other professionals and employees, besides the physician in charge, to know the complete clinical record of the patent or some data pertaining to such a record. The secrecy also encompasses these persons with all its rigour. The secrecy is equally sustained when computers are used. The exceptions to this rule of ethics are presented and Information Is given concerning the data that the patient, the relatives and the community should receive.
