Resumen de Los Talleres de Santa Rita, una iniciativa social de carácter agustiniano

De los tres aspectos relacionados con la popular “Santa de imposibles”, devoción, culto y caridad, en el presente trabajo se ofrece una sucinta historia acerca de la asistencia social a pobres y necesitados efectuada por la Asociación Talleres de Santa Rita, fundada en Madrid a primeros del siglo XX. El animador y organizador de esta obra social fue el agustino Salvador Font, quien proporcionó el método de trabajo y el Reglamento para su aprobación por el obispo de Madrid-Alcalá (1902), dando forma legal a los Talleres de Santa Rita. Tras la bendición y conformidad de los Talleres por parte de León XIII (1903) y san Pío X (1907), llegaron la fama, los elogios y la expansión de la nueva institución social, con arraigo en varias ciudades de España, Argentina, Brasil, México, Perú y Filipinas, y su vasto quehacer social humanitario mediante la confección de ropa y vestidos por un grupo de mujeres, pioneras en la ayuda social, que luego distribuyen entre pobres y necesitados.

Of the three aspects related to the popular "Santa de im-posibles", devotion, cult and charity, in the present work a suc-cinct history is offered about the social assistance to the poorand needy carried out by the Asociación Talleres de Santa Rita,founded in Madrid at the beginning of the 20th century. The ani-mator and organizer of this social work was the Augustinian Sal-vador Font, who provided the working method and theRegulation for its approval by the Bishop of Madrid-Alcalá(1902), giving legal form to the Santa Rita Workshops. After theblessing and conformity of the Workshops by León XIII (1903)and Saint Pius X (1907), fame, praise and the expansion of thenew social institution arrived, with roots in several cities inSpain, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines, andits vast humanitarian social work through the making of clothesand dresses by a group of women, pioneers in social aid, whichthey later distribute among the poor and needy
