This paper presents a numerical method for the solution of the 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The continuity equation is solved in its original form without any modi cation. The method uses a nite-di erence discretization of the continuity and momentum equations, written in Contravariant form on a boundary- tted curvilinear grid. A collocated grid is adopted and a coupled solution procedure is applied to the system of algebraic equations. The method is tested in two benchmark test cases of incompressible flow: the driven cavity flow and the flow over a backward facing step at typical Reynolds numbers of laminarflow. The results con rm the viability and accuracy of the present approach.
