    Between 1982 and 1991, different Brazilian writers were in Berlin as Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) scholars. The reports about life in the divided Germany have higher value when they are set side to side, once it passes to the reader the complexity lived by the German society after the wall was built. Ignácio de Loyola Brandão, Rubem Fonseca and João Antônio lived for months in the West Berlin, while João Ubaldo Ribeiro witnessed the tension that emerged from the early times of the unification of the country. Reading the Brazilian experiences provoke a reflection on the depth of the wound created by the political decisions and the rough processes of healing.

    Entre 1982 e 1991, diferentes escritores brasileiros estiveram em Berlim como bolsistas do Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). Os relatos sobre a vida na Alemanha dividida têm seu valor aumentado quando colocados lado a lado, já que repassam ao leitor a complexidade vivida pela sociedade alemã após a construção do muro. Ignácio de Loyola Brandão, Rubem Fonseca e João Antônio viveram meses na Berlim Ocidental, enquanto João Ubaldo Ribeiro testemunhou a tensão surgida nos primeiros tempos de país unificado. A leitura das experiências dos brasileiros provoca a reflexão sobre a profundidade das feridas criadas a partir de decisões políticas e o difícil processo de cicatrização.
