    The postcolonial studies focus, as well, on the people confluence and the encounters that occur in the big cities of the world. In addition to the cultural shock, there is also a history of colonization and exploitation that created ideas and bias existing until nowadays. The Caribbean author Grace Nichols discuss in her book The Fat Black Woman’s Poems (1984) the survival of a black, fat, Caribbean woman in the London metropole by discussing notions of home, belonging, and, mostly, affective questions. With the study her work, this article proposes a postcolonial analysis that encompasses the affections these multicultural cities carry and how they are fundamental part of current world transformations.

    Os estudos pós-coloniais analisam, também, a confluência de pessoas e os encontros que ocorrem nas grandes cidades do mundo. Além do choque de culturas, há também um histórico de colonização e exploração que gerou ideias e preconceitos até hoje existentes. A autora caribenha Grace Nichols discute em seu The Fat Black Woman’s Poems (1984) a (sobre)vivência de uma mulher preta, gorda e caribenha na metrópole Londrina discutindo noções de casa, pertencimento e, principalmente, questões afetivas. Ao estudar sua obra, este artigo propõe uma análise pós-colonial que engloba os afetos que as cidades multiculturais carregam e como eles são parte fundamental das transformações mundiais contemporâneas.
