Dentro de la actividad hospitalaria, es común en la práctica diaria la realización de intervenciones quirúrgicas, las cuales pueden ser programadas o de urgencia. En cualquier caso, es imprescindible la actuación del cuerpo de Celadores; ya que la posición correcta del paciente en la mesa de quirófano1 es muy importante.
En todo el proceso quirúrgico, el Celador tiene como función:
Traslado del paciente, de su habitación hacia el quirófano.
Movilización del paciente, desde su cama hacia la mesa de quirófano.
Finalizada la intervención, se movilizará el paciente desde la mesa de quirófano hacia la cama.
Traslado del paciente desde la sala de quirófano hacia la URPA (Unidad de Reanimación Postanestésica).
Y por último, con el alta de la URPA se trasladará el paciente donde la unidad anestésica indique (habitación, UCI, etc.).
