Resumen de Ceratocystis pilifera, Hongo Causante de Mancha Azul en Madera de Pinus radiata

En Chile, trozas y madera aserrada de Pinus radiata D. Don experimentan con frecuencia e intensidad el problema de la mancha azul, creando dificultad en su aspecto final, y limitando sus posibilidades de exportación. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar el agente causal de esta alteración. Para tal efecto se colectaron muestras de madera manchada en diversos lugares de la provincia de Valdivia. Todas las muestras presentaron el mismo organismo, calificado como hongo fuertemente manchador y con gran poder de penetración. Las características específicas del organismo lo identifican como Ceratocystis pilifera (Fries) C. Moreau.

In Chile, Pinus radiata D. Don and logs lumber are intensely and frequently attacked by blue-stain, and therefore its final presentation is impaired, thus limiting its exporting possibilities. The objetive of the present study was to determite the causal agent of this alteration. For this purpose samples were collected from stained wood from different places of the Valdivia province. All samples had the same organism, which was considered as a strongly staining fungus with a great penetration power. All the described characteristics indicate that the causal agent is Ceratocystis pilifera (Fries) C. Moreau.
