The aim of this paper is to reconsider the role of Fray Luis Sotelo (1573-1624) in the diplomatic voyage Keichō (1613-1620) as a cultural agent in the projection of a Franciscan Japan. Through the revision and discovery of new sources on this event, the focus will be placed on his writing work, as well as the material and human mobility that he carried out, crossing sources of different natures rescued from various archival and documentary collections. All this allows us to reconstruct the context of his intercontinental journey within the framework of his strategies of political-cultural intermediation, relocating Luis Sotelo in the conception of a seraphic project for Japan, which he would leave engraved in Europe beyond his death in 1624.
