Resumen de Salud y bienestar en una iniciativa neo-tradicionalista en Chile

  Resumen Se describen y caracterizan cuatro prácticas medicinales desplegadas por miembros de un movimiento transnacional de revitalización de tradiciones espirituales amerindias en el sur de Chile. Se relevan los marcos de referencia históricos, arqueológicos, lingüísticos y etnográficos de cada una de dichas prácticas y se subrayan las respectivas significaciones asignadas a éstas alrededor de la salud y el bienestar. Igualmente, se identifican aspectos de la estructura, función, contextos y usos en que se despliega cada una de estas prácticas, tanto en el contexto tradicional como actual en el que fueron observadas. Por último, se infieren algunas propiedades significativas de estas prácticas, las cuales permiten sostener la existencia de una medicina espiritual.

  Abstract This work describes and characterises four medicinal practices used by members of a transnational movement to reinvigorate Amerindian spiritual traditions in southern Chile. We discuss the historical, archaeological, linguistic and ethnographic frames of reference of each of these practices and underline the significations assigned to them in terms of health and welfare. We likewise identify aspects of the structure, function, contexts and uses in which these practices are deployed, both in the traditional context and the current context in which they were observed. Finally, we infer some of their significant properties, on the basis of which the existence of spiritual medicine can be sustained.
