       Patrimonio Nacional conserva uno de los repertorios más completos de pinturas de Coxcie, repartidas entre el Monasterio de El Escorial, Galería de las Colecciones Reales y Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales de Madrid.  A excepción del Cristo camino del Calvario, el resto del conjunto está imbuido por el peculiar academicismo romanista de los años de madurez del artista de la década de los 50, en los que el artista consigue una perfecta integración de la lección aprendida en Italia al gusto flamenco.  La restauración de las piezas durante las dos últimas décadas ha permitido aclarar algunos interrogantes sobre el estado físico de las piezas, así como determinar nuevas fuentes de inspiración para sus composiciones y su influencia sobre otros artistas.

      Patrimonio Nacional preserves one of the most complete catalogues of paintings by Coxcie, distributed between the Monastery of the Escorial, Gallery of the Royal Collections and Monastery of the Descalzas Reales of Madrid.  Except for Christ on the way to Calvary, the entire collection is imbued with the peculiar Romanist academicism of the artist’s mature years from the 50s, in which the artist achieves a perfect integration of the lesson learned in Italy to the Flemish taste.  The restoration of all the pieces during the last two decades has made it possible to clarify some questions about the physical state of the pieces, as well as determine new sources of inspiration for their compositions.
