    El propósito de este ensayo consiste en recorrer los orígenes de la investigación cualitativa desde los albores de la humanidad hasta su consolidación como una manera de hacer investigación científica en las ciencias sociales. A tal fin se emprendió una ruta histórica que devela de una incipiente manifestación lo que al paso de los años se llegara a denominar Investigación naturalista o cualitativa. En los diferentes textos revisados al etilo gadameriano, complementando con otros abordajes en tanto que reúne las características de ser holística, multimetódica, flexible y evolucionaria acepta la complementariedad desde la narrativa, comprensión, comparación, interpretación hasta la contextualización por excelencia y admitida sin equívocos en el quehacer y contribución del conocimiento.

    The purpose of this essay is to review the origins of qualitative research from the dawn of humanity to its consolidation as a way of doing scientific research in the social sciences. To this end, a historical route was undertaken that reveals from an incipient manifestation what over the years came to be called naturalistic or qualitative research. In the different texts reviewed in the Gadamerian style, complementing with other approaches as long as it has the characteristics of being holistic, multi-methodical, flexible and evolutionary, it accepts complementarity from narrative, understanding, comparison, interpretation to contextualization par excellence and is unequivocally admitted in the task and contribution of knowledge.
