En este trabajo, se exponen las prácticas de padrinazgos del rey de Francia. Se trata de estudiar el comportamiento del rey de Francia con respecto a sus súbditos gracias al padrinazgo, determinando la frecuencia de esta práctica, el origen social de los niños apadrinados y el lugar del rey durante estos bautizos. A través de un corpus formado por los registros parroquiales de las dos parroquias de Versailles, Notre-Dame y Saint-Louis, nuestra reflexión se centra en las consideraciones políticas y sociales de los padrinazgos reales: el padrinazgo aparece como una manifestación del favor real. En el momento de la construcción de una modernidad europea en las diversas cortes reales, la cuestión de la intimidad entra en juego: se observa una mayor distancia entre el rey y sus ahijados, sean sociales y físicos.

The main of this article is to bring out the figure of the king of France as godfather in the 18th century and to find out for which children the king becomes godfather, as well as the frequency of this practice. Based on the parish registers of the two parishes of Versailles, Notre-Dame and Saint-Louis, our reflection focuses on the political and social considerations of this practice: as manifestations of royal favor, the king controls the manners of baptisms in which he is godfather. At the time of a European construction of modernity in the practices of power and the rise of intimacy, the king of France becomes more distant with his godchildren, wether physical or social, for exemple participating less and less in ceremonies.
