  La punción seca es una herramienta terapéutica invasiva practicada por los fisioterapeutas especializados en el manejo del dolor neuromusculoesquelético. Para ello se emplean agujas filiformes sólidas sin bisel, las mismas que son utilizadas en la técnica de acupuntura, sin introducir ninguna sustancia al atravesar la piel1. Dichas agujas son estériles y desechables. El efecto terapéutico se logra por la estimulación mecánica de la aguja en el punto gatillo miofascial2. Un punto gatillo miofascial es una zona hiperirritable localizada en el músculo estriado que provoca dolor y disfunción3. La finalidad de este artículo es poner de manifiesto la capacidad resolutiva de la técnica de punción seca para el tratamiento del dolor miofascial agudo en musculatura difícilmente accesible para el tratamiento manual y fácilmente abordable con el correcto manejo de una aguja.

  Dry needling is an invasive therapeutic tool practiced by physical therapists specialized in the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain. For this, solid filiform needles without bevel are used, the same ones used in the acupuncture technique, without introducing any substance when passing through the skin1. These needles are sterile and disposable. The therapeutic effect is achieved by mechanical stimulation of the needle at the myofascial trigger point2. A myofascial trigger point is a hyperirritable area located in striated muscle that causes pain and dysfunction3. The purpose of this article is to highlight the resolving capacity of the dry needling technique for the treatment of acute myofascial pain in muscles that are difficult to access for manual treatment and easily addressed with the correct handling of a needle.
