  En el artículo que abre este número de Devenires, el maestro Luis Villoro aborda un importante aspecto de la novela de Miguel de Cervantes: la relación entre la realidad y la creación poética. Espero no falsear su idea central si la condenso de esta forma: la realidad imaginada por la novela —o la poesía— es una realidad transfigurada que se manifiesta por medio de la emoción y la ilusión y que, señalando que lo que se da en llamar la realidad es un engaño, la vence superándola y creando una realidad superior imaginada. Sugiero que algunas razones por la que don Quijote es un hacedor de nuevas realidades, a partir de la realidad que consigue transfigurar, se fundamentan en el libro, la lectura y el nuevo género literario que anuncia. El Quijote es un libro hecho de multitud de libros y un libro en el que la referencia a los libros es constante. Y no hay libros sin lectores, por lo que cabe resaltar el hecho de que las diferencias sociales no implicaban además una diferencia cultural; las élites culturales prestaban atención a la rica literatura oral y los analfabetos no quedaron excluidos de conocer las obras literarias más populares de la época por la lectura en voz alta que de ellas se hacía.

  In the article that opens this issue of becomings, master Luis Villoro addresses an important aspect of the novel by Miguel de Cervantes: the relationship between reality and poetic creation. I hope not to distort its central idea if I condenso thus: the reality imagined by the novel —or poetry— is a transfigured reality manifests itself by the excitement and enthusiasm that pointing out what it is called reality is a delusion, beat beating this and creating a higher reality imagined.
