Este artículo pone en perspectiva la búsqueda de oro en la conquista de Tierra Firme con el mito del Dorado. Se interesa especialmente en la primera mitad del silgo xvi, cuando tuvieron lugar las exploraciones territoriales más importantes del subcontinente (Perú, Nuevo Reino de Granada), se pusieron en marcha políticas de control migratorio y de exploración y se redactaron las primeras noticias y crónicas de la Conquista de Suramérica.

This article puts into perspective the search for gold in the conquest of Tierra Firme through the myth of El Dorado. It focuses especially on the first half of the 16th century, when the most important territorial explorations of the subcontinent took place (Peru, New Kingdom of Granada), the first migration control and exploration policies were established, and the first news and chronicles of the Conquest from South America were written.
