Después de 1812 todavía muchas familias pleitearon por su hidalguía: algunos miembros de la élite tradicional de pequeñas villas castellanas esperarán a los primeros años del siglo XIX para que se reconozca su nobleza.Ofrecemos el caso de una familia ya presente en la vida municipal almanseñaen el siglo XVI y que durante el XVII consigue afianzarse en el concejo a través de una política matrimonial hipergámica con miembros de la oligarquía concejil, en su mayoría familias hidalgas.El estudio de la trayectoria de una familia como esta permite, por un lado, vercómo consiguen asimilarse, al menos legalmente, a sus iguales en el municipio, y, por otro, conocer las consecuencias de un privilegio de hidalguía en una fecha ya tardía. Sendas cuestiones han sido respondidas por documentación procedente de protocolos notariales y también a través de fondos privados e inéditos.

After 1812 there still were many families sued for their nobility. Some members of the traditional elite of small Spanish villages had to wait until the beginning of the 19th century for their nobility to be recognized.One of these cases is a family from the town of Almansa who belonged to themunicipal life in the 16th century, however, it is in the 17 th century when theymanaged to establish themselves in the council through a hypergamous marriage policy with members of the council oligarchy, mostly noble families.The study of the career of a family like this one allows, on the one hand, toanalyze how they manage to assimilate, at least, legally, with their equals in a town, and, on the other hand, to know the consequences of a privilege of nobility at an already late date. Both questions have been answered by the documentation of notarial protocols and also through private and unpublished documents.
