Implante coclear en malformación de oído interno

    Los implantes cocleares siguen siendo un reto en varias malformaciones de oído interno, porque es difícil predecir los resultados auditivos. Actualmente, la clasificación más utilizada de las malformaciones de oído interno es la de Sennaroglu. En el artículo desarrollamos el tipo partición incompleta tipo III: Se define por presentar dilatación bulbosa del conducto auditivo interno (CAI) y la ausencia del modiolo que separa la espira basal de la cóclea del CAI. La implantación coclear en estos pacientes conlleva un riesgo mayor que en otros casos de inserción inadvertida de la guía de electrodos en el CAI, con la consecuente posible lesión del nervio facial.

    Cochlear implants remain a challenge in several inner ear malformations, because it is difficult to predict hearing outcomes. Currently, the most widely used classification of inner ear malformations is that of Sennaroglu. In the article we develop the incomplete partition type III: It is defined by presenting bulbous dilatation of the internal auditory canal and the absence of the modiolus that separates the basal cochlear spiral from the IAC. Cochlear implantation in these patients carries a higher risk than in other cases of inadvertent insertion of the electrode array in the IAC with the consequent possible injury to the facial nerve.
