Grupos intermedios en la España de finales del antiguo régimen a comienzos de la contemporaneidad: El caso de Murcia

    El objetivo de este trabajo pretende centrarse en un grupo de actores históricos encuadrados en una élite política de un territorio geográficamente periférico, como la región de Murcia, así como dar un paso más en la inclusión del factor familiar en el estudio de las estructuras de poder. Igualmente, se buscará dar a conocer los avances obtenidos hasta el momento, ejemplificado en el caso de dos de las más importantes familias murcianas de finales del siglo XVIII y comienzos de la centuria siguiente, a saber, los Roca de Togores y Carrasco, y los Corvera; o lo que es lo mismo, los marqueses de Villaleal y Pinohermoso, y los marqueses de Corvera. Se dará cuenta de las alianzas, matrimonio y prácticas de transmisión patrimonial, a fin de observar las estrategias de reproducción familiar de este linaje.Analizar el papel de estas familias en diversos órganos representativos del reino durante el primer liberalismo español y el período republicano, vincular la necesidad de estas familias de querer ser incorporadas a estos cuerpos intermedios y cómo hicieron uso de los mismos para mantener su posición dentro de la élite nobiliaria fueron objetivos de este estudio.Como ejemplos prácticos se aludirá al linaje de la familia de los Corvera, donde hubo miembros que accedieron a los cuerpos militares (concretamente, a las órdenes de Calatrava, San Juan y Santiago, en la cual permanecieron durante tres generaciones), la Casa Villaleal y Pinohermoso, en la que no sólo lograron entrar en el anterior cuerpo intermedio, sino que además accedieron al cuerpo representativo del reino – el Senado –, de una orden – la Diputación de Murcia – y de un territorio – la Regiduría de Murcia.

    The aim of this work intends to focus on a group of historical actors framed in a political elite of a geographically peripheral territory, such as the region of Murcia, as well as to go one step further in the inclusion of the family factor in the study of power structures. Likewise, it will seek to publicize the progress made so far, exemplified in the case of two of the most important Murcian families of the late eighteenth century and early next century, namely, the Roca de Togores and Carrasco, and the Corvera; or what is the same, the Marquises of Villaleal and Pinohermoso, and the Marquises of Corvera. The alliances, marriage and patrimonial transmission practices will be reported, in order to observe the family reproduction strategies of this lineage.Analyze the role of these families in various representative bodies of thekingdom during the first Spanish liberalism and the republican period, link the need for these families to want to be incorporated into these intermediate bodies and how they used them to maintain their position within the noble elite were targets of this study.As practical examples, reference will be made to the lineage of the Corverafamily, where there were members who joined the military (specifically, under the orders of Calatrava, San Juan and Santiago, in which they remained for three generations), the Villaleal and Pinohermoso House, in which they not only managed to enter the previous intermediate body, but also accessed the representative body of the kingdom - the Senate -, of an order - the Diputación de Murcia - and of a territory - the Regiduría de Murcia.
