Resumen de Los Caciques. Una reflexión sobre los eventos de congregación social del complejo cultural El Vergel en el curso medio del río Cautín. Sur de Chile

En el presente artículo se da a conocer el sitio Los Caciques, un sitio adscribible al complejo cultural El Vergel (1000-1500 d.C) originalmente ubicado en la cima del cerro Conun Huenu en la comuna de Padre Las Casas, Sur de Chile. Se describe el conjunto cerámico del sitio a través de la identificación de categorías de vasijas, sus atributos y proporciones con que se presentan. Se realiza una caracterización de festines reche-mapuche a través de fuentes documentales; esto considerando la relación histórica directa entre poblaciones El Vergel y reche-mapuche. A partir de ambas líneas de evidencia, se propone a Los Caciques como un sitio de congregación social.

The following article presents the site Los Caciques, a site ascribable to El Vergel cultural complex (1000-1500 A.D.) originally located on the top of the Conun Huenu hill in the commune of Padre Las Casas, Southern Chile. The ceramic assemblage of the site is described through the identification of vessel categories, their attributes, and proportions. A characterization of reche-mapuche feasts is made through documentary sources; this considering the direct historical relationship between El Vergel and reche-mapuche populations. On the basis of both lines of evidence, Los Caciques is proposed as a site of social congregation.
