Resumen de Repercusiones del terremoto de Lisboa de 1755 en el patrimonio nobiliario español: Familias e informe de daños y reconstrucción

En este trabajo buscamos poner de manifiesto la importancia de las relaciones sociales entre la nobleza española del siglo XVIII a la hora de determinar el alcance patrimonial del terremoto de Lisboa de 1755 en España. A través del análisis de tres tipos de fuentes nobiliarias distintas, analizaremos los estragos que dejó el temblor de Todos los Santos en las edificaciones de Alcaudete (Jaén) y Lobón (Badajoz), que no habían sido incluidas en el recuento oficial realizado por la Corona en la Orden Circular del 8 de noviembre. Finalmente comprobaremos, mediante las cartas entre el conde de Aranda y el duque de Alba, la importancia de las relaciones de amistad y parentesco en la nobleza de mediados de siglo, que permitieron a Aranda abandonar la embajada de una Lisboa arrasada por el temblor.

In this paper we seek to highlight the importance of social relations between the Spanish nobility of the 18th century when determining the patrimonial scope of the Lisbon earthquake of 1755 in Spain. Through the analysis of three different types of noble sources, we will analyze the damage left by the Todos los Santos earthquake in the buildings of Alcaudete (Jaén) and Lobón (Badajoz), which had not been included in the official count carried out by the Crown in the Circular Order of November 8. Finally, we will verify, through the letters between the Count of Aranda and the Duke of Alba, the importance of friendship and kinship relations in the mid-century nobility, which allowed Aranda to leave the embassy a Lisbon devastated by the earthquake.
