El objetivo de esta comunicación es el estudio de la criada en un ámbito muy concreto: los procesos de divorcio. Por una parte, se tendrá en cuenta el papel quelas criadas jugaron como testigos en los procesos de divorcio que llevaron a cabo los señores de la casa en la que llevaban a cabo sus labores del hogar. Y, por otra parte, también se verán casos en los que las propias criadas fueron las protagonistas de los divorcios, después de que los esposos hubieran solicitado el fin de la convivencia marital. Así, estos casos nos permitirán ver los lazos de unión que existían en la comunidad, qué podía romperlos, y cuáles podían ser las consecuencias. Todo ello estaba estrechamente relacionado con los ideales de honor y adulterio de aquella época. Para eso, se utilizarán diversos ejemplos de divorcio que tuvieron lugar en el siglo XVIII en los territorios de Álava, Guipúzcoa y Vizcaya, y que se encuentran en los archivos de los obispados de Calahorra y Pamplona.

The aim of this paper is the study of the maid in a very specific field: divorce proceedings. On the one hand, it takes into account the role the maids played as witnesses in the divorce proceedings carried out by the wives of the house in which they carried out their housework. And, on the other hand, there are also cases in which the maids themselves were the protagonists of the divorces, after their husbands had requested the end of the marital cohabitation.Thus, these cases will allow to see the bonds of union that existed in the community, what could break them, and what the consequences could be. Besides, it cannot be forgotten the ideals of honor and adultery of that time. Thus, this paper is based on various examples of divorce that took place in the 18th century in the territories of Alava, Guipuzcoa and Biscay, and which are found in the archives of the bishoprics of Calahorra and Pamplona.
