In this article, we review some female characters in theatrical texts written and premiered by Josep Peris Celda between 1919 and 1932. From them, we will see how, although the dramatic structures will be almost the same as the generation of Eduard Escalante, Peris Celda tried to update the inherited imaginary and its repertoire of motifs by incorporating elements from the accelerated changes produced by the social processes that were taking place in the City of Valencia in these first decades of the twentieth century, such as the emergence of independent women with presence in public space and the ability to become subject of discourse and action
