La repressió franquista en el teatre popular valencià (1939-1945)

    Aquest article té per objectiu analitzar com va afectar la repressió franquista durant la primera postguerra (1939-1945) a un sector artístic molt concret: el del teatre popular valencià, tant el professional com l’aficionat. En primer lloc, es fa una síntesi dels mecanismes que conformaven el complex sistema repressiu del franquisme. La part central del treball és l’anàlisi individual de la repressió patida per vint persones relacionades amb el teatre popular valencià: la meitat, autors, i l’altra meitat, actors. Així, després d’una breu biografia de cadascuna d’aquestes persones, destaquem les acusacions, alguns aspectes de les diligències judicials, les condemnes, el temps que romangueren en la presó i les altres mesures repressives que patiren. Cal dir que els represaliats pel franquisme pertanyents al món del teatre valencià ho foren generalment per raons polítiques i ideològiques, i sols excepcionalment per les seues activitats teatrals.

    Aquest estudi és una primera aproximació a la qüestió, perquè encara queden molts expedients personals per consultar en centres documentals i arxius per tal de copsar l’abast real que la repressió franquista va tindre en el teatre popular valencià.

    This study aims to analyze the effect of Francoist repression in a very specific artistic sector during the first post-war period (1939-1945): the Valencian popular theater, both professional and amateur. In the first part, we explain a synthesis of the mechanisms that made up the complex repressive system of the Francoist regime. The central part of the study is an individual analysis of the repression suffered by twenty people related to Valencian popular theater, half authors and the other half actors.

    Thus, after a brief biography of each of these people, we highlight the accusations, some aspects of the court proceedings, the sentences, the time they remained in prison and the other repressive measures they suffered. Those victims of reprisals belonging to the world of Valencian theater were generally retaliated for political and ideological reasons, and only exceptionally for their theatrical activities. This study is a first approach to the issue, that is, it is a “work in progress”, because there are still many personal files to consult in documentary centers and archives in order to grasp the real scope that Francoist repression had in Valencian popular theater
